Why India Banned Tiktok Including 58 Other Chinese apps

Indian Government on Monday evening said that they are banning 59 Apps developed by Chinese firms Including Tiktok, but why people are only talking about TikTok, why it is a big deal?

before moving further let me tell you a fact: As per June 2019 it was estimated that there were 120 million monthly Tiktok users are in India, which is now crossed over more than 200 million.

so the impact of the news was huge and also a shock for all the TikTok users who were gaining popularity overnight and also were earning from this platform. this news shattered hopes of the people in the queue who were trying to gain popularity in this 1.3 billion population country, all at once.

why the government has taken this decision

this is taken due to the concern that these apps were engaging in activities that threatened National security and defense of India which negatively affect the sovereignty and integrity of India. In April, India amended its foreign direct investment policy to involves all neighboring nations, including China, with which it shares a boundary to seek approval from New Delhi for their future investments in India. The nation’s Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade said that this measure is taken to curb the opportunistic takeover of Indian firms that are grappling with challenges due to the corona-virus crises.

But why Banning TikTok is a Major Deal

TikTok has been facing negative counterblast in India since the second half of May after users were sharing numerous videos on Twitter that appeared to promote acid attacks, domestic violence, animal cruelty, racism, child abuse and objectification of women. also, Many Indians rushed to leave a poor rating of the TikTok app in the Google Play Store to express their disgust,

also, things were accelerated when in recent weeks,  more than 20 Indian soldiers were martyred in a military clash in the Himalayas earlier this month by Chinese soldiers from there, people started expressing their anger on social media, signing the petition to“Boycott China” it has been trending on Twitter in India ever since, where the growing number of people posted videos demonstrating destruction of Chinese-made smartphones, TVs and other products.

also, there were trending YouTube vs Tiktok in recent months where Tik-Tokers and You-Tubers were targeting each other and roasting about each others content, carryminati video which was more than 80 million views within in a few days was taken down by the you-tube because of the ugly Digital War

Tiktok posted a notice on Tuesday saying they are working to comply with new Delhi's order

TikTok said that it was working to comply with new delhi's order

after the decision, majority of people are in favor they are happy with the decision including many celebrities showing positive thoughts through their tweets, also there are some who are quite upset especially the tiktokers who became influencers and had millions of followers . also this is sad for the people who actually had a platform to show their skills and gaining recognition in the easiest and quickest way. so I just wanna say that everything has its pros and cons but nothing comes above our Nation. so if our government has taken this decision for our country's security purpose than we all should respect and understand our responsibilities towards our nation and maintain peace.
